As orthodontics and Invisalign has become more accepted and popularized in the adult patient, there are instances that TADs are used to achieve some unbelievable movements in adult patients.

TADs are” Temporary Anchorage Devices”, which are temporary implants that are placed to accelerate or expedite the movement of certain teeth in the mouth.  In some instances we place them both in the front (buccal) and on the roof of the mouth (palatal) in order to place a rubberband (elastics) to push a back up into occlusion (intrude).  They can be used in many ways to push or pull teeth.

I have patients that sometimes ask what they look like….so here it is:
